On and Off The Plate: November 2021 Newsletter

What’s off your plate?

It's so hard to believe, but the end of the year is upon us. That has a mix of emotion for many people. For some, it's the start of an exciting holiday season. For some, it's FULL of stress for so many reasons. Work can be full of stress and anxiety at the end of the year, with hard deadlines and an increase in workload.

Let's face it: if you’re living with high levels of stress, you’re putting your whole well-being at risk. Aside from narrowing your ability to think clearly, feel balanced, and function effectively, stress also tears away at your emotional equilibrium and negatively impacts your physical health. In essence, coping with your stress is arguably the most important kind of self care. From physical symptoms like muscle tension, nausea, headache, and skin irritations, to emotional issues like irritability, anger, sadness, and changes in sleep and appetite, the effects of stress can quickly take over many facets of your life. Take the time NOW to equip yourself with the proper tools to cope with stress. Your future self will thank you for it. Join my email series on coping with stress to understand your stress triggers and how to deal with it to positively impact your health. Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie

I shared this recipe earlier in the year and thought it was well worth digging up again! This is the right time of year to add in an anti-inflammatory smoothie!

I was chatting with a client and he was talking about getting into smoothies. He mentioned that he found a smoothie with carrots and ginger and I was immediately intrigued! I love ginger and both carrots and ginger have tremendous healing qualities. So, it sounded like a win win.

I immediately started scouring the internet for a recipe and I found a good one! Here are my notes before we get to the recipe. I would boil the carrots for about 10 minutes (a day before or a couple of hours before) and have them handy in the fridge. If you don’t boil them, the smoothie becomes a little chunky and for anyone with texture challenges, this will turn you off. So, boiling is a must! I also added some turmeric to the mixture and sprinkled some cinnamon on top. Boom! A cup full of macronutrients, probiotics, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Here’s the link to the recipe. Give it a try and post your thoughts on our Facebook page. Did you love it or customize it to make it your own?
