On and Off The Plate: March 2021 Newsletter

What’s off your plate?

I am ENOUGH, I did ENOUGH, I have ENOUGH

Ok, say it with me, “I am enough, I did enough, I have enough.” How did that feel? Were you relieved? Did you feel accomplished, proud, reassured?

I heard this in one of the classroom lectures through the Institute for Integrative Medicine and I was immediately overwhelmed with all of these feelings. As a mom, a wife, a working professional, an athlete and more, I always feel like I’m not doing enough. I’ve always kept a full schedule and feel let down when I don’t get to something that I wanted to get to. Even if it’s as silly as the laundry. How many of you can agree with this? I was chatting with my husband a couple of weeks ago when he asked me how things were going. I said, “I just need to let things go.”

That comment was referring to the small things that I didn’t get to, like the laundry. Blah! Who enjoys doing laundry? I have to tell myself that it’s ok if I didn’t get to it today. It just means that something more important needed my attention (like my kids) Then, I heard this mantra and it put me at ease..

I am ENOUGH, I did ENOUGH and I have ENOUGH. It really spoke to me. If we were meant to do more in our days, we’d have more hours in the day or we would’ve prioritized it. That’s that.

We put so much weight on our own shoulders. It’s time to tell yourself that You are ENOUGH, you’ve done ENOUGH and you have ENOUGH. These words could be the words to help you find peace in your day and let go of some additional stress.

Try it out and let me know what you think. You can email me at michelle@thewellnessvalue.com or post about it on our Facebook page. How did it feel?

Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie

I was chatting with a client and he was talking about getting into smoothies. He mentioned that he found a smoothie with carrots and ginger and I was immediately intrigued! I love ginger and both carrots and ginger have tremendous healing qualities. So, it sounded like a win win.

I immediately started scouring the internet for a recipe and I found a good one! Here are my notes before we get to the recipe. I would boil the carrots for about 10 minutes (a day before or a couple of hours before) and have them handy in the fridge. If you don’t boil them, the smoothie becomes a little chunky and for anyone with texture challenges, this will turn you off. So, boiling is a must! I also added some turmeric to the mixture and sprinkled some cinnamon on top. Boom! A cup full of macronutrients, probiotics, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Here’s the link to the recipe. Give it a try and post your thoughts on our Facebook page. Did you love it or customize it to make it your own?
